I am working on setting up subcontracting in ERPNext, and I have a specific scenario where I need to send an item (e.g., a holder) to a vendor for operations like cutting or welding. In this case, I am not sending raw materials, but rather an already finished/semi-finished item that the vendor processes and returns to me.
The workflow I want to achieve is:
- Sending an item (e.g., holder) to the vendor for a specific operation (e.g., cutting).
- Tracking the subcontracting process in ERPNext.
- Receiving the processed item back into inventory after the operation is completed.
I’d like to know:
- Can this be managed using the subcontracting feature in ERPNext, or do I need to customize?
- How can I configure this workflow to ensure proper tracking of inventory and the cost of subcontracting?
