I would like to know if there is a way I can restrict maximum number of students in education module like on how its is done on setting limit for maximum number of users.
Lets say I want maximum 300 students.
How can i go about it?

You can restrict students per class in setup I guess you are looking for restrictions on school level which I don’t think is there, but I maybe incorrect.

This feature is not available right away. You can write custom script to restrict the number of Students for the Students Doctype.
