How to update document linking in Connections

Hi All,

How do i update the linking

So it updates here, it doesnt seem to work all the time. If i create a document from a document then it links, but then if someone creates a document on its own, how can i link it afterwards?

Thank you, I am using the frappe cloud version. Can i just put this in the server side script for the doctype?
