Implementing Manager-Approved Overtime in ERPNext Without Relying on Timesheets for Payroll

Hi ERPNext Community,

I’m looking for a way to manage overtime approval and payroll in ERPNext without using timesheets for payroll calculation. Here’s what we need:

  • Employees should submit overtime requests separately from regular timesheets.
  • An overtime approver manager must confirm these overtime submissions before they’re processed.
  • Confirmed overtime should then be reflected in salary payroll calculations.

Currently, ERPNext calculates overtime from timesheet hours, but we need an approval step before it affects payroll. We’re not looking to run payroll based on timesheets.

Questions:

  1. How can we set up an approval process for overtime in ERPNext?
  2. Any tips or customizations for integrating approved overtime with payroll?
