Importance of Item Group Tree

I am not understanding what purpose does item group tree serves. Any help will be appreciated.

One more thing is that,you can apply ‘Pricing Rule’ on Item Group also.

@shraddha any chance to use a naming series for Item Groups?

Are item groups intended to be used in POS as a quick way to navigate items, for example in a shop mall having categories like Food, beverage, Cosmetics, Clothes & Shoes, etc?

Hi,
You can give naming series for Item group
In Doctype-
Select Item group

inside’ Naming 'section you can give Autoname.

@shraddha yes, but i need to switch to developer = 1 and future updates will break it …isnt it?

yes,you need to set developer mode to 1
and Item group is linked to Items so again you need to change that.

@shraddha i don’t think should be done any changes on item, i think/hope that item_group in Item is the FK to Item Grop.name …
