Improvements, suggestions, etc

Not very structurally, i will report here the issues i encountered
while working with ERPNext. The order of issues is random.

  1. Retrieving information on linked docs.
In the processing chains (eg PO,PR,PI) information is linked; updates
changes are difficult, eg if new tax information is “fetched”, it
seems that the tax info from the preceding linked doc takes priority
and updates are not possible. While in say PR one can not “fetch
again” the PO, error msg is coming that the PO is already fetched. So
one cannot really update and over write changes.

  2. While entering items often a empty line is added at the end of
table. If one saves an warning is coming that “this and that has to be
entered”. Empty last records in the table could be automatically
    removed.

  3. The docs are often very long; I have not found out how the sections
can be “folded in” by default. Eg, with Purchase Receipt I will never
enter any info related to the transport company. So, if would increase
readability of the docs, if by default this section is “folded in”

  4. The dropdown list for selecting items in the tables is very narrow,
make it much wider so that one can read the article concerned.

  5. If one enters an item code, the mouse cursor has to be nicely just
below the input window, if not the system will very quickly react with
“wrong code”. Directly entered complete codes should be “acknowledged”
by an enter, preventing this annoying property.

  6. The pop-up input screen for items, could have an + /- (move one
record up/down), that would improve quick and easy data entry.

  1. There is a lot of empty space on the main item screen that could be
used for displaying item description, price, etc. Ideally user defined
    fields with a sorting preference.

  2. Did not manage to "reduce the POS screen to the real minimum
( name, items, date , account, tax finished); After having entered a
custom name, all custom info folds out.

  3. Export of Masters in the input format (so not only format but with
    data)

  4. The new module page should also include the links to the
    documentation, help, manual section etc

  5. The “Cash voucher” has the bank account as default in the table
    (credit/debit).

  6. A user definable “filter” to select account heads, as described in
the Option screen of the Form View Editor; To selct a bank account
also all customer accounts are selectable.

  7. In Item tables, make also the fields name and description directly
searchable. So if a user wants to select thru description one can type
the search term directly in the description field in stead of
    "magnifier>change id for description> enter %xxxx, search.

  8. make the % default search and use % or other symbol to search on
    “starting with”

No doubt more to come

Robert,

Thanks again for your suggestions. We will discuss them in our weekly plan today

  1. Allow to save the selection of columns in the reports.

  2. The correct Posting Dates are critical in the correct functioning
of ERPNext. There should be an check that the user checked this date.
For users who are very timely, i believe the “today as default” is a
pro, for others who enter the information later a source of errors. I
would suggest to remove the default, if one clicks the calender gives
todays date, so that enters quickly for the first category (users
    entering directly)

  1. Have a table where the processing changes and links are
    visualized.

IDT005<>PO0002<>PR0008<>PI0002<>voucher00012
PR0009<>PI0012
PO0003
PO004<>PR005<>PI00014

etc

Hi Robert,

Purchase Receipt and Purchase invoice link is already there in the item table of PO. Payment voucher is linked to purchase invoice. Linking payment voucher to PO is little bit tough because there may be single/multiple payment against single/multiple invoice.

Nabin,

Please add it as an issue in Github.

Robert / all,

If you have suggestions that are not really urgent, but an idea you get and want to note it somewhere, the github issues page is a good place. We keep looking at that list quite often. It also becomes a repository of ideas *if* some Open Source developers want to contribute.
