Item Varient and Standards

I am implementing Erpnext in a company manufacturing furniture items. There are about 300 standard items divided into categories like desks, chairs, etc. There is also a demand for non-standard sizes, colors etc. which go through the same manufacturing processes but in different cells.

What is the best way to organise both standard and non-standard items, so that reports only show all variants of a particular model together and not individually.

eg. If we receive sales order for.

  1. Blue Desk Marina (24x40")- 10 Nos
  2. Blue Desk Marina Custom (22.5x40") - 1 Nos
  3. Blue Desk Marina Custom (22.8x40") - 1 Nos

In Reports (Pending Items/Analysis) it should show like

  1. Blue Desk Marina (24x40")- 10 Nos
  2. Blue Desk Marina Custom - 2 Nos

Is there any standard way for this?
