License and Trademarks - Erpnext for Commercial Use?

Hi Good Day can someone elaborate the whole procedure of how to use license and trademarks as mentioned here https://erpnext.com/license-trademark.

I am trying to make a source of income by implementing erpnext as it is Opensource and some modifications made to match the need of my clients? question can i use the logo and the name erpnext as part of my contract of service? it says on the website " The primary purpose of your project is to promote the spread and improvement of the ERPNext software. Your project is non-commercial in nature (it can make money to cover its costs or contribute to non-profit entities, but it cannot be run as a for-profit project or business)." so does it mean i cannot use erpnext trademarks when implementing it on my clients? or do i need to remove any logo or brandings for me to be able to use it and implement it on my clients?.

Thanks in advance im just confuse how this trademark work and i will not violate any regulations. Thanks in advance.

Hi Yhenn,

Here’s a simplified explanation:

  • You can offer ERPNext services (like implementation, customization, support) to clients, even for profit.

  • You cannot use the ERPNext name or logo as part of your company name, product name, or branding.

  • You can mention ERPNext (e.g., “We implement ERPNext”) in service descriptions, but make it clear you’re not affiliated or endorsed by Frappe.

  • Do not use the ERPNext logo in contracts, business cards, or websites as if it’s your brand.

  • If you’re modifying ERPNext, follow the GPL license — keep the code open-source.

Add a simple disclaimer:

“ERPNext is a trademark of Frappe Technologies. We are independent service providers and not affiliated with them.”

You don’t need to remove the ERPNext logo from the software itself — just don’t use it for your business identity or advertising. Reach out to expert consultation on trademarks such as Setindiabiz or any reliable name in the domain.
