List_item.html Is not working?

Hello ,

I created list_item.html based on the link above in Leave application doctype , so the web user can make use of it .
unfortunately it did not work ,Could some one point if it deprecated in the new version ? or is ther other way to show doc type to web user without changing on frappe templates ?

I want to customize the listview and the list Item view when clicked in website side … what is the best practice ?
