MRP or Bom or ? / how to repack

How can a manage repacking.

Buy say 25 kg and than repack is in 25 bag of 1 kg for selling

Hi Robert,

Since purchase UOM and stock UOM is same, there is no need to maintain
BOM for this item.

When you purchase 25 KG, stock level will increase by 25 kg. And when
make invoice for 1 kg, stock level will reduce by 1 kg. So overall
stock left would be 24kg.

If you have different packsize for same brand of item, and want to
track stock level of each item separately, add separate item for each
packsize.

Thanks and regards,
Umair Sayyed

Hi Umair,

It is close to what you discribe at the end.

What i did so far is that 25 kg product AAA was bought and than I
created AAA_1kg 20 bags of 1 kg selling for Euro and 10 bags of 0,5 kg
(AAA_05kg) selling for say for Euro 6.5

In my inventory management I would thus convert AAA into two new items
AAA_1kg and AAA_05kg with different selling price.

So I do not buy these item but build them out of existing stock

Hi,

You have mentioned two UoM in your last message, Kgs and Bags.
Out of these two in which you UoM store item AAA and in which UoM you
purchase.

Is it like, 1 Kg of AAA gives you 2 bags which you ultimately sell?
What is the exact conversion factor between both the UoM?

Regards,
Umair

Hi Again,

I believe the UoM is not the fundamental thing, it’s a conversion.

This issue is: what is the procedure to follow if you want to convert
stock you have bought in new items.

I buy products AAA, BBB, CCC and want to sell them in a bag/box/kg or
whatever of mixed AAA+BBB+CCC and assign a sales price.

No the must be some kind of stock neutral procedure creating AAA+BBB
+CCC out of AAA, BBB and CCC.

What you might also use is a Sales BOM. Try New → Sales BOM

It is usually for selling items + accessories as one item.

When you select a Sales BOM item in the transaction, it will automatically make a Packing List

Tried what Rushabh suggested but not sure whether it does what I m
looking for.
It creates a new item with extention001, but it looks further like any
other item and is set to “not an inventory item”.

Lets assume a bakery:
The baker buys 1000 kg of flower and 10 kg of yeast.
Now the composite item bread (1 kg) is created out of say 0.8 kg of
flower and , 0.01 kg of yeast and water yielding 1 kg bread loaves.
Is there an operation to create the item bread and at the same time
update the inventory???

So if the baker bakes today 100 breads the inventory will be adjusted
and 900 kg of flower and 9 kg of yeast are left in the inventory??

The “purchase price” would now be the price of wheat and yeast plus
may be a addition to cater for labour/equipment etc

If I understand correctly this is what a Bom does but may be I
completely misunderstand the concept.
If this is the function of BoM provide documentation because I really
tried but get stuck.

If not I believe such a concept wld be a usefull addition.

You can make a Stock Entry (selectively enter Source and Target Warehouse in the items table)

So if the baker bakes today 100 breads the inventory will be adjusted
and 900 kg of flower and 9 kg of yeast are left in the inventory??

The “purchase price” would now be the price of wheat and yeast plus

If you want automated costing, then BOM would be the way to go. If you make a BOM,

then you have to make a “Production Plan”

Based on the plan, a “Material Requirement Planning” (MRP) will take place that will create “Purchase Requisitions” if you will be short of material and “Production Orders”

When you “close” the Production Order, your above process takes place - the raw materials get subtracted, the finished goods get updated with the correct price.

Will ask Umair to make a brief note on this and update it on the website!

Rushabh
