why there is no customer ID or code when making new customer? or is there any?

You can set automatic naming series for customer.

Adding in @Rahul-R’s answer, Please also check in Selling Setting.

There is a three-option like Customer Name, Naming Series, and Auto Name.
After saving the Selling Setting, Please reload and check it.
