I understand you can use bench to install apps the CLI way. However, am I right in thinking that there is no GUI way to install apps? Frappe Cloud does seem to offer that function, but it is not provided to those who’d like to self-host?
I was a bit surprised about this, because Odoo has it and I took it for granted.
There have been a few GUI inferfaces for site/bench management in the past, but they tended to be more headache than they were worth. I’m not aware of any currently being maintained.
There is, of course, the Press app, which is what runs Frappe Cloud, but it’s not likely something you’d want to set up just to avoid the cli.
Thanks, @peterg ! Just a quick followup question — I hear they’re trying to release Frappe v16 towards the end of this year. Is it going to change any of this? If it does, probably I should wait for its release before I get my hands on Frappe, because I can afford to wait.
Will it add a GUI for installing apps? I’m not aware of anything like that.
Honestly, if using the CLI is a sticking point, I’d strongly recommend Frappe Cloud or even considering another framework. Frappe/ERPNext is immensely powerful, but it requires some familiarity with the technical side of things.
No, it’s not really a sticking point – I’m just super lazy and always trying to find ways to do things as easily as possible. In fact, that may be the only thing I am not lazy about.
I am going to post another question in a new thread only because I fear it’d be inappropriate to do it in this thread. I hope you’ll be gracious enough to guide me there as well. I appreciate your help very much.
