Pick list not generating item when item is a service

Hello,

I work for a service business who gets calls from customers to clean their clothes. We send a van to their house, pickup the dirty clothes, bring them back at the factory, clean them and deliver them back to the customer’s address.

I wanted to use the sales order, Pick list and delivery transactions to manage this.

SO = The customer’s order. Pick list: We assign a lorry and driver on route to pickup the clothes. Delivery: Once the clothes are clean, we deliver them back to the customer.

Right now, the service ‘Wash’ is not ticked as ‘Track inventory’ because the clothes are not stock. We do not need them in stock to sell the service.

When I create a SO then a picking list, and click on ‘fetch item’, the service does not populate on the pick list.

Is there a way to overcome this?

Hi there,

This really isn’t the use case that Pick Lists were imagined for. If you want a intermediate document step between Sales Order and Delivery note, it’d probably be easier to create a new document like “Pickup Request” than to bend the Pick Lists doctype to serve this function.
