Please help recommend the hardware configuration for building the server

Hello everyone, I am a beginner to ERPNext. I would like to ask you to help me recommend the hardware configuration of a server. I am a pharmaceutical machinery manufacturing factory, and I only need to use the functions of purchasing, sales, production, and HR. There are about 200 employees, and there are 50,000 different types of parts in the warehouse to manage. I’m thinking about building a stable, high-speed server myself. Do you have friends who can give good advice? Thank you!

  • If you are going for bare-metal setup, buy the best thing you can afford. Capacity, redundancy, storage, backups, networking, fire safety, power backups, etc. It is time-consuming and takes lot of downtime to upgrade bare-metal servers.
  • If you are going with cloud providers, start with 2CPU, 4GB RAM VM and upgrade as needed, it will upgrade with click of a button with least downtime and no screwdriver needed. Frappecloud being one of the cloud provider you can start with their base plans and then upgrade as you need.

Thank you very much!

Even if you are building a server, you should strongly consider virtualization. Virtual Machines are easier to backup and restore. Virtualization also allows you to have multiple servers running on a single host. This allows you to have testing, deployment, and production servers.

I agree with @volkswagner as well. We have a proxmox setup and everything is fluid!

Do not forget also Docker on bare-metal or Cloud.
