Hi, I have attached a file in doc and set it as private, but every user can download it. I want only the specific role user can view or download that file.
Can all users access the document which is linked to the file? If yes, then they can access the file.
A private file’s permission is linked to the document it is attached to.
Another thing to note: One file can have multiple “File” doctypes - that is, the same file can be linked to multiple documents in the system. In such a case, the file can be accessed if the user has access to any of the linked documents. Check if the same file path is there on multiple “File” objects - the “File List” will show this.
For example, an HR user has permission to create and manage Employee and other HR-related doctypes. When an employee receives a promotion, the HR Manager can attach the promotion letter to the employee’s profile. This document will be visible only to the employee concerned and the HR Manager.
Yes. If the Employee profile is only accessible by the employee (using user permissions) and the HR Manager (via role), then any private files attached to the employee profile will only be accessible to those users.
