Problems faced after making the State Field Mandatory in Customers etc?

I have already made the state field mandatory for entering any
customer or lead. Now the things work fine if the state for a
particular country are there but what should I do when the states for
a particular country are not in the DB.

I was thinking of creating a state named “None” in every country but I
think the DB does not allow states of same name to exist. How can I
overcome the problem as I am not able to create customers who are out
of India, US or China as only these countries have their states listed.

Hi Aditya,

You can create new country / state from Setup-> Country / State in General Section.

If you not aware of name of the state then you can create state name as "NA-country_name", please avoid adding "None".

Hope this will solve your problem.

Thanks and Regards,

Harshada Ghodke.

Aditya,

No need to create NA name, we will fix the issue

Aditya,

The best option is to make state non-mandatory - If you want it mandatory then you will have to create states for all the countries.

Also if you find more state lists for different countries, do update us so we can add them in the product!

Thanks Harshada, I have gone ahead with the NA-country_name of each
country.

@Rushabh: I would definitely let you know of if I find any ambiguity
in the state names.
