The default link in the top bar for products goes to a page that is not found www.domain.com/products
The correct link is www.domain.com/all-item-groups/products
Is this right? Do we have to see ‘all-item-groups’ in the URL?

Yes link is correct.
But it depends on you which “Item group” & “item” you would like to make it available in public facing website.
Under “item group section”, you have an option to “show in website”

I found the ‘show in website’ checkbox and everything is working correctly.
I was wondering…why show the extra level in the URL?
Is it possible to link to:
‘www.mydomain.com/products/’ instead of ‘www.mydomain.com/all-item-groups/products’

“www.mydomain.com/all-item-groups/products” URL Is coming since “Products” is a sub-group of “All item group”.
This method will help users to pull items under another “sub-group” also in website.
