Nice suggestion from @ablishek. Let’s freeze the UI changes for a while and focus on other critical stuff.
- When a page loads in ERPNext, it takes around 300 network requsts. Fix it.
- When an Invoice is submitted, so many unnecssary network and DB requests. Clean it.
- So much backdated code from previous versions and removed features still lying around the codebase and affecting performance. Clean it.
UI doesn’t have to be pretty, but the code should! The tech-debt is there, need to act soon.
Let’s do a reverb on all the backend code for the next two major versions. Read every line of backend code and clean unwanted stuff. Read every line of Javascript and ensure the correct logic is maintained. Clean all un-necessary network and DB requests. Harden all the logical flows with good code and abundant test-cases. MAKE THE CODE SLIM AND PRETTY. Remove all unwanted bloat.

Hi,
We are a business using erpnext for last 4 years over frappe cloud. Started with v14. Transitioned to v15 and now on v16.
Over the years system has been very stable but we see certain patterns recently where i agree that the changes are breaking things that were working before.
We are now on a plan with warranty as we have experienced bugs that break our business operations.
Looking into the data of what we reported using Helpdesk, i can say 50% of what we have reported recently (I just counted) are cases of new release breaking what was previously working - to me this is a stability issue.
Also appreciate the team for fixing those bugs after they are reported. But most of them shouldn’t have come up in the first place. They should be caught in the test phase.
Hope right people find this experience and bring more positives to all the businesses that have placed their trust in Frappe.

@rmehta I know you hate long threads so let me keep it simple.
- You can NEVER satisfy the men who ask for pretty interfaces. It is a never ending loop. Don’t get trapped in it
- There is no such thing as universally beautiful UI or universally beautiful woman so stop chasing that
- “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” - Some like it thin, some like it fat; there is no common defintion for beauty
Let me repeat, myself. Don’t try to improve the UI, you can’t; It’s impossible.
Does erpnext-13 look prettier than erpnext-16? Some would say, Yes; Some would say, No; You can’t satisfy all.
Some find monalisa painting beautiful, some don’t. There is nothing you can do about that.
Don’t waste your valuable hours on an impossible goal like “beautiful UI”. Just Don’t.
Rather, focus on making the system more stable and fast. You can measure Speed but you can’t measure Beauty.

That is an ERP. It should be:
- consistent
- aligned with business processes
- easily customizable
- secure
- offering high performance and capacity
When you start losing these, you are pushed out of the game. Simple as that. ERPNEXT is second to none and needs no comparison with any other solutions available. However, the new direction steers away I am afraid.

can you highlight issues that its diverting besides the period closing .
As for me am not seeing where ERPNext is not being consistant with business processes unless you are reffering to the source code itself
I think he’s mixing ERPNext with Frappe. ERPNext is pretty much the same with some new features which are fantastic. Frappe is the sore point with unnecessary updates.
True that ERPNext havent changed much rather they did quite a lot of improvements then on frappe not sure what exactly bad was done on it , l thought they had actaully made improvements on the framework but l think people just hate change or to learn new things . Many softwares does that when they upgrade . Look at python itself some versions they do upgrades that are even difficult to upgrade to but thats how software matures

Personally I think the updates add a better UX experience because at least now it shows an icon on the far left corner letting users know they are in sales module with the workspace sidebar just showing important information related to sales. Installing of having assets, manufacturing and a bunch of clutter. Is Frappe V16 better for the end user … yes. Did it cause issues with existing users … also yes. There is still some way to go, but even though we bitch and complain its a step in the right direction long term.

True that , if we are speaking os scaling the product , UX is the way to go , bugs will always be there especially when dealing these open source but new users are attracked by UX nomatter how we may want to denny it . Odoo is a good example nomatter how much you can talk about your so called features users will still be intrested it , no matter the bugs , it still excells . Right now odoo is excelling even now doing bigger projects and it never stops touching the UX and end users love it .
