Rejected PR : what process

Hi

I would like to position myself to make contributions. And initially these will be small changes, but I should imagine that , later one would be in a position to suggest a new feature.

And if the PR is about a new feature then there is a chance if it being rejected. What is the process then ? Is there a process of discussion ? So that the person submitting the PR can perhaps improve on certain things that the developers are not happy with ?
