The fact that this app is necessary shows a fundamental problem with Frappe’s development process. The “entity” in charge seemingly only cared about looks, while completely ignoring functionality.

Thank you all for the encouragement, testing.. Every voice in the community matters. Not to self promote - for me the v16 feel is so much better with the SlimBar. UI flow feels native - from left to right Apps/Workspaces –> Modules / Shortcuts –> Doctypes.
Latest changes - Have added a Reset Default button. Have also updated text to refer to it as SlimBar vs Sidebar used by Frappe (to avoid confusion).
Happy to open a PR to merge with core - if requested. Will be a moment of pride for me. Regarding requests for further customization of colors, etc. , will let Frappe team evaluate / refine it (if merged). Thank you all again for the confidence.

I have applied the material_theme in my erpNext, nice theme…
But I am trying to customize the v16_slim_desk in order to have the blue stell color as like the material theme. Is it possible ?

@nunesfl thanks for using the app. appreciate the gratitude to the OP. regards colors and customization - tried several attempts to change button positions so that there is spacing, etc… there seems to be some kind of flex container restriction. Once we are able to fix that - will try to add one more button for u to input the color of choice…. i like the colors picked by AI - will leave it at that for now. Sincerely.

@zerodiscount Thank you for the app. For now if the sidebar item is linked with a Report, the desk still switch to the other, could you help solve this?

I am glad to know that conversation was helpful and it’s really great that you took it further and converted that discussion to an actual working solution that solves a real-world problem. Let’s hope that your solution (or something similar) is merged in the framework core.
Also, here’s my feedback: I have deployed your SlimDesk app on a few v16 production setups and the users are now heavily relying on it for system-wide navigation. They simply cannot work with v16 without SlimDesk now. Absolutely brilliantly implemented solution
