Remove contact - how, not allowed

I have contacts that no longer work for a client. Howe to >I remove/erase/ disable these contacts?

I am hoping for a simple way, but looking at older related posts shows that while there is a work around, there is not a direct way to do this.

Ideas?

Why not just delink the contact from the respective reference document (lead/customer/supplier)?
You can delete the child table rows in the contact form.
