Request for Cost Center Based Inventory Management in ERPNext (Get Actual Qty Based on Cost Center)
Current Setup:
ERPNext Version: 15
Requirement:
Implement cost center-based inventory management (get actual qty based on cost center)
Problem Statement:
Currently, our inventory management doesn’t differentiate between cost centers. We need to track and display inventory levels (actual qty) based on specific cost centers.
Example Scenario:
In Warehouse X, we have 8 units of Item Y:
3 units belong to Cost Center A
5 units belong to Cost Center B
Desired Functionality:
When selecting a cost center (e.g., Cost Center A), we want to see only the corresponding inventory quantity (3 units) for that item.
Question:
Should we use Inventory Dimension or Accounting Dimension for this purpose?
How can we create a custom report that displays projected quantities based on selected cost centers?
Similar Existing Feature:
We’re looking for something similar to the Stock Projected Qty Report, but with the added capability to filter by cost center.
Please advise on the best approach to implement this cost center-based inventory management in ERPNext. Any guidance on creating the custom report would be greatly appreciated. Custom script or query or report?
