I havnt use ERPNext for a long time so maybe it got the feature but i dont know.But i dont find the feature in the document. And please forgive me that i am not native English speaker.
I am living in China and havnt use ERPNext for a long time, just have a try. I think it will be a perfect choice for me if it has e-sign system (just like ODOO’s esign system, means sign through browser, im not sure i use the right proper noun).
Describe of the feature
Like ODOO’s e-sign system, or in China we use system like EsignCN, Tencent Esign. I dont really know what you use in your country.
In my opinion, Esign system should can let me upload files (Microsoft Word file, Libreoffice file, Image file, PDF e.t.c.), and use drag to put Esign box into uploaded document, the content can be number, company name, comsumer’s name and etc..
The must important is that i can send a link to my costomer, let them can sign thier name or other infomation on the document. As i know ERPnext cant do that now.
And its better if it follow the law’s request to ensure the signed file is a provable file. That means it should work in law.
About the esign’s law
I cant list all of the contry’s law, you could find it in ODOO’s doc
For us in China, we must ensure any change of the file should be findable after signed. Its OK if you dont want to use your finger to sign on the screen, but in that case it should have a third-party’s prove.
It’s OK for China’s esigned file if it hasnt third-party’s prove, but i am not sure if is able for any country. It should be important for users using self-hosted ERPnext.
What i think
I think the feature should be very useful for company needs sign contrast with costomer in other city or country online.The esign system is not expensive but it do use a lot of money for micro company like us.
I got some personal advice for the feature.
- It’s best if it is opensource and free
- The signer can sign without log into the website, instead of use a short pin to protect the share link.
- The system could use digital certificate to protect the file. After all of the signer already signed.
- It can record the signer’s information like IP, sign time and etc. when sign.
- It can auto mark sign time under the sign.And be a chooseable choice.
- We can decide the order for signer’s to sign(when it got some information you need costomer to sign). Like tencent esgin i know.
- The signer can download the signed PDF file with digital certificate after they signed.
- The admin can set the permission of using company’s signet.
- The personal and company’s sign or signet store in the system, should use something to protect them.
- The company’s signet or sign , system should record who and when use them.
