Restricting Views by Customer Group

I am trying to restrict view of a specific user to the records of a specific type (eg Support tickets) to those of a specific customer group.

The Customer Group has a hierarchy of
  level 1
     level 1.1
     level 1.2
         level 1.2.1
               Customer 1.2.1

1.  Set up Customer Group as a link field in the support ticket
2.  Set up specific User
3.  Set up specific Role for that User
4.  Added a linked field in the Support Ticket of Customer Group
5.  Setup in User Permission Manager a rule for the specific user for Doc Type = Support Ticket of Customer Group = Level 1
6.  Set up a restriction rule for that rule with  "Apply User Permissions" ticked
7.  Added a support ticket with Customer Group = Level 1

However, when I sign on as the restricted user I get
Showing only for (if not empty):
      Name = MM Group

This would imply that the restriction on Customer Group is not being applied but only on Name.

Am I correct?

Regards
John

Hello John,

In the User Permission Manager, you should add rule for Customer Groups which are selected in the Customer master and Support Ticket. Considering the case illustrated above, following rule should be added in the User Permission Manager.

User XYZ - Customer Group - Level 1.2.1

Defining rule for parent master doesn't apply same restriction on the corresponding child records. You should create separate rule in User Permission Setting for each Customer Group.
