In ERP Next by default there are 4 Party Type , suppliers, customers, shareholders, employees.
We had a use case where we needed to create more party types which is neither of the above.
However out of the box , I understand party types are not allowed to be created , want to understand what is the thought process behind that ?
These party types are tightly coupled with many aspects of accounting, and there is very little benefit to creating new party types unless you are also creating new doctypes to support them. It’s not really something that’s meant to be user-facing. For most people most of the time, creating a new party type is a bad idea.
If you know what you’re doing, there are other ways to do it. In most cases, you’d probably use a fixture in a custom app, but it can also be done in the console.
