Separate Database for ERPNext

I have installed ERPNext with hrms module. Now is there any way to integrate a separate database? Not only for records but what I want is to upload files like profile images or any documents on S3 and their key to be stored in DB. I’ll be using RDS for that purpose. Just like we do commonly in our applications. If above case is possible, what would be the procedure?
