Single Line Small Text in Customized Form

Hi there,
I’m customizing our forms and would like to add single line text boxes for some of the fields.
When I create a Small Text field, the text box is way too large. If someone could please tell me how to create a text box that’s the same size as the boxes for the Select fields, it’d be much appreciated.
