Standard Print Formats

Hello all i have created a my own Sales Invoice print format called CK Sales Invoice Classic, but i am having trouble getting it to be the default or standard. I have tried setting it to standard >> yes . Also I tried setting Sales Invoice Classic/Spartan/Modern/POS to standard >> no. I cleared the cache and was expecting the next time i go to sales invoice i will see my print format.

It did not work i still see some other format as default on the invoice page and when i do a print preview my new template is not even available anymore.

Guess i need a run down on how templates work including which ones get used by default ie appear in the browser, and also auto email notification. Seems somehow i got quotations working but Sales Orders and Sales Invoices not so much

Hi Ryan,

You can go to Setup –> Customize Form –> select desired form. In there you will find a default print format option. Here, select the desired print format and click on update on the top of the form. Then go to tools (top black bar) –> clear cache & refresh.

Now the print format will come pre selected when you try to print.

If you create/edit a print format, please save it as a different name than that provided by us and mark it as standard = No. Standard = Yes indicates it is standard to the product and should not be edited, but should be copied and saved if changes are required.

Thanks,
Anand.

As usual i was looking in the wrong place just when i thought i was becoming a bit of an expert with ERPNext haha, I have followed your suggestions and things are working as expected now. Guess i must have stumbled onto customize forms when i setup Quotations and then forgot how i did it today.

Anyhow i have copied the Sales Invoice Classic template made my changes including Standard >> No then saved it as CK Sales Invoice Classic.

Then i followed your steps below making it the default like i wanted.

However i mucked about creating a few extra templates, but cannot seem to delete them now, they are not marked as standard?

PS i marked all the ones i changed from standard yes to no back so as not to cause troubles down the road

We will add a section on editing print formats in our upcoming documentation - for now, if know HTML/CSS
you can just see the exiting code and edit. It might take some time, but its very do-able :)

Might not be a bad idea to make Print Formats deletable - will push it in our next update.
