First I purchased a laptop and stored it in fixed asset warehouse specifically for laptops. Accountants here usually have fixed asset account for each type of fixed asset in order to be able to depreciate them more easily. Not sure it’s necessary with ERPNext but this is beside the point.
When I tried to do a stock reconciliation, ERPNext would not detect the current valuation rate of the items. Why? Is this an error or am I missing something?
When I select a warehouse from which to obtain the items, am I supposed to get a long list of items that are not stored in that warehouse? If I’m supposed to get a list of all of the items available to the company shouldn’t the items that are actually stored in that warehouse also appear?
It’s not designed to provide valuation rate for an item. Because in that same warehouse, item could have multiple valuation rates, if purchased at different at each time. You should enter required valuation rate for an item.
It fetched all the item in which Default Warehouse is the one as defined by the users in stock reco., and not based on the actual stock of an item.
It would be easier to depreciate items if each item profile contained a field in which the user specifies the number of months it takes to depreciate the item. Then in the stock rec tool, the user specifies that he wants to depreciate the item by 1 month.
If it is not designed to tell me the current valuation rate of the item, why is there a label that says “Current Valuation Rate”?
I selected a warehouse that has 0 items assigned to it. None of my items have that warehouse as a default warehouse and yet many of my items but not all appeared when I selected “Get Items.”

@sofia Previously, warehouse was used only for fetching available qty and valuation rate based on that warehouse. It was not used to decide which items will be pulled.
I have pushed a fix, now it will fetch items based on ‘default warehouse’ mentioned in item master.
Hi @nabinhait , I think you’re right though, it’s better for the warehouse to pull whatever items are stored in it regardless of those item’s default warehouses. However when I selected a warehouse it pulled items that were neither assigned to it nor stored in it.
