When I make a sales order, the sales taxes and charges type is not being pulled from the customer profile. How do I make the sales order pull the sales taxes and charges type from the customer group? If I can’t pull it from the customer group, how do I pull it from the customer profile?

Use Tax Rule Functionality ,In that you can apply customer wise tax.
Follow the below steps -
1.Create "Tax Rule " entry for customer.
2.On Sales Order , select same customer and check in ‘Tax’ datagrid, applied taxes for that customer are fetched.

@geetanjali, thanks! I did as you said and it worked. In the process I came accross this possible bug.
The sales tax rule worked just fine but the purchase tax rule is giving me problems. When I try to make a purchase tax rule I get the following error message.
However I’m not trying to make a tax rule for sales.
I’m worried that my vm has unique bugs due to customizations. What is the best way to download a new vm and apply selected customizations to it?
