Track activity for customer/lead

what is the best way to track phone call,meeting etc without using “communication” ? As it seems there is no link between lead/customer to 'communication" even thought email id is recorded. I think using the comment function below lead/customer is the best workflow for now?


when you create a lead it shows up as status “lead”,
wheh you send a quotation to a lead, it still shows status “lead”
however a quotation also shows under selling and quotation,
and at the bottom of the quotation it shows that there was an email sent with the quote,
i wish the email would also show up at the bottom of the lead, so i could tell the quote was already emailed,
when you make an opportunity out the lead, then status changes to “opportunity”,
when you converst a lead to a client, the status shows “converted”
