Unable to Close a POS Open shift

I have a user that somehow managed to create 2 POS Open shifts on the same day. The first one had one transaction that day, and the second one had 18 transactions.

The second one was closed at the end of the day.

The following day, when the user logged in and started making sales they defaulted into populating the first POS Open Shift form the previous day.

At the end of the day. the user tried to close the shift but receives an error message:

Invalid Period

This POS shift remains open and I cannot close it. It continues to rack up sales because it still has an Opening date from last week and the error about the period overlap prevents me from closing it.

Has anyone else run into this?

Does anyone have any idea how to get it to close (bypassing the invalid period error)?

This one has me stumped.

Try to cancel POS Open shift and delete it

So, I took your idea and I did “Cancel” the shift.

I did not however Delete it.

I am not sure how that might affect the Sales Invoices that are logged against it and if I delete it I would lose the transaction record. So for now it will just stay “Canceled”

Thank you!
