Unknown Column i.stock_uom

Whenever we are trying to save a stock entry we are receiving an error : InternalError: (1054, u"Unknown column ‘i.stock_uom’ in ‘field list’")

this is same as reported [SOLVED] Data Import error in Stock Entry - #4 by paramjitrohits. However the solution mentioned is only possible if you have a copy of apps before update.
