Update issue (cgi)

Hello All,
we have run following commands in app and lib folder

sudo git add .
sudo git commit -a -m "to update"

and then in project folder

cd lib && git fetch origin && git checkout 1310 && cd ..
cd app && git fetch origin && git checkout 1310 && cd ..

then I checked the branch of app and lib , it was set to 1310

lib/wnf.py --update origin 1310

when I logged in and open the application, all customization (module labels, doctype labels in list, button etc)  was not there.

Is this the correct procedure to update cgi version?

Thanks and Regards,
Gangadhar kadam

If you are 1310 you can still stay on cgi branch. Maybe you had updated earlier and that is why the system is broken. Please check your git log

Hi Amin,

I think that in your erpnext directory, there is a file with non ascii name. Please get rid of it if you find it. It could very well be in your files directory.

Thanks for the suggestion. We ran a script over the erpnext folders and found one file in erpnext/public/files that I think was uploaded with a support ticket.  Renamed the file and --build worked. However, the server no longer responds when we restart the machine.

Hi Jonathan,

Alas, python 2+ has some issues with non-ascii filenames, which is solved in python 3+

After restarting, did you restart mysql, apache and memcached?

Also, which branch is your installation on?

-Anand.

The installation is on the master branch.  In the past after we restarted the server, ERPNext (mysql and apache) came up by themselves. I am not sure about memcached. Has something changed such that ERPNext must be restarted manually after the server reboots?

Hi Jonathan,

Starting of MySQL, Apache and Memcached depends on how you have configured your server and is not at all related to ERPNext.

If you are on master branch, you need to use NGINX and not apache. See: https://github.com/webnotes/erpnext/wiki/WSGI-Production-Deployment

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi Jonathan,

If you use the production setup instructions, you will be using the supervisor to manage the erpnext server process. If you installed supervisor from the repositories, then supervisor will start at boot and will also start the erpnext gunicorn process.

The installation is on the master branch. In the past after we restarted the server, ERPNext (mysql and apache) came up by themselves. I am not sure about memcached. Has something changed such that ERPNext must be restarted manually after the server reboots?

It is strange that you get this error, can you try

pip install -r lib/requirements.txt and try again

If it doesn’t work, please post the output of

python2.7 -c "import werkzeug"
which python2.7
