Warehouse Bin System

Absolutely. Let me send you a business requirement based on a customer need and you can help me understand how it can be setup on ERPNext.

Thanks

Dear Jay,

we are looking for the RARB system for our ERPNext.

May i ask if you offer that feature?
Sorry I am new to ERPnext.

Thank you Mirko

Hi Mirko,

The Inventory Dimension feature could potentially replace our RARB functionality. But I haven’t yet got around to testing the Inventory Dimension feature.

However, I can offer to test it out for you and if it works great, I can implement it for you (or you can implement it yourself).

If it doesn’t meet your/the requirements you have two choices:

  1. You can explore RARB with us (But that will need a bit of finishing which means time and expenses for you)
  2. We can work with Frappe and build the additional requirements on Inventory Dimensions (Which again means time and expenses for you).

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Jay

I believe Inventory dimension will surely work.

Four Doctypes will be created. (Not going in their detailed structure but here they are)

  1. Row - {{ID, Row Number, Belongs to Aisle }}
  2. Aisle - {{ID, Aisle Number, Belongs to Rack }}
  3. Rack - {{ID, Rack Number, Belongs to Bin }}
  4. Bin - {{ID, Bin Number, Belongs to Warehouse }}

That’s it, create inventory dimension, applicable to required stock documents and voila! :vulcan_salute:

Hi Prashant,

I have a client that is looking for a fairly simple solution of Shelves.

One quick question: I didn’t notice a way by which I can make the inventory dimension only applicable to a particular warehouse. Which could possibly mean that Inventory dimension gets applicable to all warehouses.

For most use cases, the Inventory Dimension would be applicable to one or two warehouses.

Once a Shelf has been setup organizations would like to decide whether they want to tie down an item (or items) to a particular shelf. Or they want to store any Item in any shelf. Again this could be Warehouse specific.

Can this be achieved with the existing functionality? Or is further development necessary? Also is there anyway the Reference Document can be generated as the Inventory Dimension record is saved?

Thanks

Jay

Hi @JayRam,
I followed this discussion from the beginning.
Have you come out with a solid solution using ā€œInventory Dimensionā€ as suggested by @aa_prashant ?
Have you sorted out all your requirements mentioned in your last message?

If you or @aa_prashant can, would you please answer the questions in my previous email?

The solution seems to be in the zone and I’m trying to figure out if the additional functionality will need to be built in. Or it’s already supported.

Thanks

Jay

Hi @JayRam
I do not have experience to actually answer to your question…
As already said, I’m following this discussion to understand if exist a solid solution.

Hi @JayRam ,
Let’s connect and see the feasibility of this.

Would love to get into brainstorming.

Thanks!

A little bit of Customisation and we can achieve it.

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I’ve been following the conversation here. We have a similar request from a customer to manage and implement a WMS in a manually operated warehouse with several thousand bins, numerous transactions, and complex picking strategies. We are looking for a partner to help us implement the system.

Is there anyone with experience in this area who could assist us with this project?

Thanks!

Hi Devin,

I’m curious—how did you decide to use ERPNext as your WMS?
Is it working for you?
I’d love to hear about your experiences.

Best,
Alex

Hi , the Currently available Bin table is used to keep the updated stock balance , and value record for any item based on all stock ledger transaction,
If you want to achieve your location, wise inventory tracking just create them under the warehouse tree and use them in transaction , stock balance can show the location wise and warehouse balance as for reporting purpose.

Let me know if you required any further assistance.

Hi @MisterPec
You can achieve with Inventory Dimension feature.
You transactions and warehouse structure needs to be understood.

thanks!

ERPNext is an excellent choice for wms. It now also includes the wms app. You can try it out here:
