l lost a big deal today because of the Frappe UI , there is a multi-national company which was looking for an ERP system most systems were eliminated because they were not customisable , this client was coming from SAP so they were looking for an alternative our company and the other company were left in the final round , we both offerred same features same experience . The only thing why our company was voted out was that ERPNext was looking too plain , this is probably the third deal l had lost because of UI . Other we dont know because they will not tell you why they didnt go with you . We really need to change UI in V16
Tastes differ. On the contrary, many of my clients really liked “how simple and easy to use”.
But that feedback is expected from people used to the mess and clutter of SAP.
Hard luck
Hi @francis1
Tried with some CSS? Actually you can get little more funny interface …
unfornately thats how Odoo is winning the game , we probably have same buttons appearing on most screens but for odoo they have some colors making it a great choice for the majority definately odoo takes the lead on great UI
I agree. Perhaps little css to brand the ui with your client’s brand (logo, primary and secondary colors, typography) could have saved the (too plain) comment.
@francis1 believe me any customer making their decision based on colors and ui are not worth and will be pain in the a** .
I do agree with you
UI and Color Scheme could be highly controversial between different people coming from different cultures. Some might like the color scheme/theme Frappe develops and others might not. Theirs is mostly a general theme that would fit most people.
Therefore, Frappe allows for inject your own CSS/JS code to tailor your app and design it the way you like
Unfortunately, decision makers tend to prioritise aesthetics
Check out this.
changing colors of buttons and layouts via css will actually make it more messy . it just won’t work unless you change the entire design , mostly the workspace page .
Yes, exactly—that’s why I built this custom app.
It gives me the freedom to design any UI I want, and I’m working on making it fully dynamic.
Would love to hear your suggestions on improving it!
Erpnext “no bullshit” functional design and color pallet was one of the big reasons for me and my company to choose it over other ERP solutions. V16 makes it look more modern and UX can always be improved of course, but i love the general UI style.
unfornately main developers dont think that way , they only think of functionality but ingoring the user needs that soft touch rather than seeing a white or black screen
and they are the ones you will present the system to , you show them another system , so if all system have same capabilities then it means UI another system will win
I do not think the ultimate reason you lost the deal is the UI, Yes Odoo UI is more colorful more fancy, I do think ERPNext UI is not so appealing at first glance, but it will not got much attention in the long run, so tastes differ only.
I think exactly the same.
customer who pay the money can choose service provider, I offer my proffesional service only to customers I choose.
I’m a little embarrassed by this post, and I say that with the utmost respect.
yeah tastes differs but if majority does like the taste then you are doomed , l tell you each time we go for presentation where there is Odoo or any other ERP that is customisable , defiantely ERPNext will not stand a chance mostly in these presentation you have probally 30 min to impress the clients and with UI , know you are dead but if there is not competition you will win
@bahaou UI is crucial. Frappe’s simplicity is great, but for someone spending 40 hours a week in front of it, the lack of color can feel depressing. It’s easy to understand why some companies feel it isn’t a good fit; because in a work environment, a pleasing UI isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. For many, the interface is like a second home. Frappe could offer a more visually engaging design while still preserving its minimalistic style.
