What is auto inventory accounting?

Hi All,

Sorry if this question has already been asked previously. What is Auto Inventory Accounting? Why should one use it? Is there anywhere I can fine more information about this? I found this link https://erpnext.com/auto-inventory-accounting on Developer news group but it is not a valid link. Can someone please provide me with more information about this? Thanks.

Kind regards,
Mayur Patel

There is two type of accounting method for inventory: Periodic Inventory and Perpetual Inventory (Auto Inventory Accounting). In Perpetual Inventory, system makes accounting entry for each stock transactions, whereas, in Periodic Inventory you need to make manual accounting entries periodically.

There is a running version of Perpetual Inventory, but we have redesigned it completely and it will be live in this week (tomorrow?). We have made proper documentation for the feature. You can get a detailed idea on that documentation.
