What is the Actions section for in DocType and how can we use it?

While create new DocType I found a section named Actions under Permission.

Thanks for the links.

Now I understand its usage.

One last question though. Can I tell ERPNext to run my own code (API) from here instead of standard code? If the answer it YES then I will be able to customize creation of Work Orders (from Production Plan) and Job Cards (from Word Order)!
