Hi,

We are yet to make an installer for ver 2.

Upgrading to ver 2 might cause many issues as a lot of patches might be required to be applied to your existing database.

However, if you are ready to start with a new database, you can try pulling the master branch of erpnext and wnframework from github and use the master.sql file in erpnext/data as the source file for the command python wnf.py --install

The install procedure for ver 2 is also a bit different and if you are not very well versed with github, I suggest that you wait for the new installer.

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi Sudev,

You were the last one to do a successful install of version 2. Will be great if you can write a blog and share it on the group.

General comment:

Early adopters of an Open Source project must become its evangelists to keep the project active and kicking and drive more and more value out of it. Since we also have a commercial interest, we will keep doing all we can but we have our limitations. At this point, we are not notable enough to be listed on Wikipedia - so any such blog posts etc will be very helpful. Also it keeps us motivated to share more stuff with the community. Its no fun if its a one-way street. In the end the model is a win-win-win if everyone (developers - users - community) contributes and benefits.

We have taken the initial effort of sharing this, for which we have no expectation but feel this is a better system. I sincerely feel that this tool can help maybe thousands of small businesses in a way OpenERP and others cannot.

So if you feel you have evaluated or used the product or spent some time studying it, please go ahead and share it!

best,
Rushabh

Hi Ganesh,

Installer might not happen for a while I think, but it shouldn't be hard to install this manually.

if you want to try this, here is what you have to do in brief,

1) You have to pull / download latest code for Webnotes and erpNext from github (https://github.com/webnotes)
2) Extract both erpNext and wnframework to a folder
3) Set your html folder to the root of erpnext (not to wnframework folder like it was in Ver1. You can edit the
existing erpnext.conf file in your apache configuration directory, if you don't want to keep the old
installation)
4) create a symlink in erpnext:
ln -s path/to/wnframework lib

5) Unzip the master database
gunzip erpnext/data/master.sql.gz

6) Run the installer:
python wnf.py --install <root_password> <new_db_name> data/master.sql

7) Edit wnframework/py/defs.py

8) login as administrator, pwd is admin.

A few more hints,

If you have a MySQL host name than localhost, (or any other user than root), you will have to edit wnframework/py/webnotes/db.py. What I did was, I defined few more variables in defs.py and replaced hard coded values in db.py.

Also in some places there are minor issues because of the original SaaS implementation (like in users.py, line 108)

Also you would want to install dependencies Jinja2 and Markdown (May be there are more, but that is what I remember now.)

I will compile a better list and post them soon, also with the fixes,

Hope this can get you started, write back if you face any issues,

Best,
Sudev

Hi,

The explanation looks good.

In addition, you should go to #!Form/Control Panel/Control Panel
and uncheck sync with gateway and change the account id to your database name.

Also, if you use master scheduler, you will have to change the cron entry of master scheduler. Scheduler has been integrated into the database and is no longer a separated database. You dont need to add records in db. Have a look at erpnext/startup/scheduler_handlers.py

you will have to add python path_to/wnf.py --run_scheduler in crontab, run it say every 3 or 5 mins.

I will add more if I recall anything else.

Thanks,
Anand.

Thanks Anand, In fact I I didn't know there was a control panel setting for Sync with gateway, I manually commented this whenever I found one in the code!. And also, edited the db.py manually for the account name / db name issue!!

Was a good thought (though was obvious one) to have this in the control panel, Votes up for that!

Hi,

A shorter way to remove sync with gateway: you can use wnf.py --sync_with_gateway 0 -d your_db_name

This will uncheck the sync_with_gateway from control panel.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Anand.

Best,

Sudev

but now if you tell me that if i work on ver 1. and then shifting to version 2 is going to be tough… If its that way then i will wait for version 2 installer

I Know that this erpnext soft is very powerful thn anyother erp soft and more customizing is posible as per that person usages…

From which directory are you running it?

Basically it means that webnotes is not in the path, so the current working directory from which you are running wnf.py matters.
Try running it from erpnext directory (root of the erpnext project, the script automatically adds lib/py to the path)

Any suggestions?
