After login, System User redirected to /helpdesk instead of ERPNext despite Default App set

Hi everyone,

After installing Frappe Helpdesk, every login (including Administrator) redirects to /helpdesk/home instead of the ERPNext desk. The login API itself returns home_page = “helpdesk”.

Versions:

  • Frappe: 16.55.2 (version-16)
  • ERPNext: 16.53.0 (version-16)
  • Helpdesk: 16.1.0 (version-16)

What I have already checked:

  1. System Settings → Default App = erpnext (confirmed via console)
  2. User (Administrator) → Default App = erpnext
  3. Roles “HD Customer” and “HD Customer Manager” had Home Page = /helpdesk. I cleared both; now no Role has a home_page set.
  4. Website Settings → Home Page set to “desk”, Redirects table is empty
  5. Hooks check:
    • home_page, role_home_page, get_website_user_home_page → None
    • on_login → only frappe.desk.doctype.note.note._get_unseen_notes
    • add_to_apps_screen → erpnext route is /desk/home
  6. Cleared cache (Website Settings → Clear Cache, frappe.sessions.clear, bench clear-cache)
  7. Tested in incognito with plain /login URL (no redirect-to)

Test result (login via API from browser console):
fetch(‘/api/method/login’, {…})
→ {message: “Logged In”, home_page: “helpdesk”, full_name: “Administrator”}

So the server itself returns home_page = “helpdesk” even though Default App is erpnext and no role/hook points to helpdesk.

Workaround: /login?redirect-to=/desk/home works fine.

Questions:

  • Where else can home_page = “helpdesk” come from for a System User in v16?
  • Does Helpdesk (v16.1.0) override the login response or get_home_page somewhere?
  • Is there any user-level cache that keeps the old role home page?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @Meet-Tank4

I am not sure but I think since the frontend is written in Vue the vue router controls everything.

This is at helpdesk/desk/src/router/index.ts at develop · frappe/helpdesk · GitHub Lines 23 to 33

Hope they fix it

I can’t think of anything you’re missing, but I didn’t think helpdesk grabs routing except through the role homepages.

My first thought would be that this might be a caching issue? If you still have the problem, maybe try looking through the network requrest history in the dev console?

Sorry, just shooting in the dark. On my installation, it goes straight to the Frappe desk after I removed the role homepages.
