How can I add permission user to use data import tool without role “System Manager”?

Hi,

In Role Permission Manager,
Click inside “Apply User permission” and check.

AND

go to “Page” list (search for “Page”)
search for Data import tool
and select role there and check.

Hi Shraddha,

I need to authorize user to import contacts of customers through data import tool. Your last comment needs clarity (at least I cannot follow)…

I have first ensured that allow import is enabled in doctype contact. Then I have authorized contact doctype in to user and check import option.

I can not understand your comment regarding “Apply user permission”. Steps does not match with mine.
1 - Role permission manager
2 - Edit permissions
3 - Contact (Apply user permission)
4 - There are two further options
a) Select doc types
b) Show user permissions

What to do next? Some how I have tried both but no success. May be some thing I missed.

Hi,
In Role Permission Manager,

1.Select Document type= Contact and Role name
Add new rule
Select Import option
and check whether it accessible or not

When I add new rule , it asks for permission level. Should I select 0 or some else?

you keep Permission level as it is and just check Read,write,create
and Import and check whether it working or not

Hi,

I have added new rule for doctype “Contact” and role “Data Analyst” with read,write,create and import options but still no success.

Note:- This user is assigned other roles as well like sales user, with only read,write and create option. I mean without import option.

When I go to PAGE is says System Manager but does not let me add another role

did you try it as Administrator? and do you use developer_mode?

I am the administrator.

I have no idea what development_mode is.

Appreciate your guidance in this

What I want to do is allow our sales manager to export and import contacts without granting him system manager status.

OK I now get the ability to add roles to the data-import-tool page

However the list is limited and does not include Sales Master etc

Obviously I think I can get around that but would prefer to appont the correct role if possible

Hi @Spicerlad1 , any chance to remove advertising in your posts? This is a forum for frappe/erpnext users and developers …no sense to use advertising.
