I have a single site/multiple company setup and I have found it virtually impossible to assign salary structure to employees of other companies as Salary Structure Assignment is set to default company and the company field is read only. A filter is also set to filter employees by company and as such employees for other companies do not show up in the employee field.

I tried to change the field permission so I can manually select company but I am unable to change the field permissions as the system says I cannot change the field from read only even though I am logged in as administrator. Due to this error, I cannot assign salary structure to employees of other companies. I need help to overcome this issue.
