Web shop / product catalog

Hi looking at the older threads, it appears this is in development but I could not find newer updates since April 2013.  Where can we find an update on the status of this module?  Is there a way to start using for beta testing?

Laurence,

Alpha version of Web Shop is available in upgraded accounts.

Check:

Website >> Shopping Cart Setting

Product catalogue feature is very much functional. To start listing product on website, you must do these setting in your account.
  • Check Show in Website in item (last section).
  • Check Show in Website in Item Group master. Page name will be generated when save Item Group with Show in Website checked.
  • In Website module >> Website Setting, under Top bars section, list Item Groups and mention their page name as URL. Below is the sample website setting for our test account.

Hope this helps.

This is very interesting.  Since we are using the hosted solution, is there a way to use our own domain name which we already have?  There's a lot of value here in maintaining one item master...

Hi Laurence,

Yes. This is very much possible. You will need to add a CName record in your domain control panel. Also, we will need to make small change here, which will be done after setting at your end is complete.

Following is the website who has customized domain of hosted ERPNext account.

http://www.mehtaherbs.com/

Good stuff Umair. Looking into it.

Learned that Item group URLS are the Item Group name. Replace space character with a dash.

Couldn't find this in CSVs but thought some others might find useful.

Thanks found it. Thinking of putting up the webshop live soon. We intend to only use it as the first part of the selling cycle, and will close sales by email/phone.  We will not be accepting payments via online yet (don't think this is supported in ERPNext anyway).  A few questions:

* Will this require customers to sign up in order to make an order?
* Do sign ups automatically register as new customers in ERPNext no the back end?
* Any major bugs to be aware of?

Hello Laurence,

Here are the replies.

* Will this require customers to sign up in order to make an order?

Yes.

* Do sign ups automatically register as new customers in ERPNext no the back end?

If user's email id is found in the contact created for customer, then that customer will be selected in Quotation and Order. If users email is not found in the contact master, system will create new customer and contact when order is confirmed.

* Any major bugs to be aware of?

Touch Wood, everything is working fine :)

Hi Umair,

What about email addresses in the Address Master? Is that considered when a new user signs up or is it just restricted to the contact master?

Kind regards,

Hello Laurence,

Here are the replies.

* Will this require customers to sign up in order to make an order?

Yes.

* Do sign ups automatically register as new customers in ERPNext no the back end?

If user's email id is found in the contact created for customer, then that customer will be selected in Quotation and Order. If users email is not found in the contact master, system will create new customer and contact when order is confirmed.

* Any major bugs to be aware of?

Touch Wood, everything is working fine :)

Hi,

Please some procedural assistance here.

I have, sofar, only entered customer names, and type. Addresses, phone , email i use google contacts (gmail).
So, under customer I have to add an email-address, and than mail my customers that they can use this email for login in order to check their "history"and to put orders in the chart.

I really would like to prevent doubling customers that exist already. How about the password?

Robert,

You should update email ids in the contact master of your customers. If email id with which your customer logs in is found in the contact master, the corresponding customer record will be opted in Quotation and Sales Order.

Once email ids are updated in the contact master, you can inform customers to login and check their order history and place new orders. Password will be emailed to customer when they sign up.

Testing the shopping cart functionality. Tried buying as a real customer. Steps:

1. Added item to cart
2. Went to cart and Placed Order
3. Asked me to sign up, so I did with a different email address
4. Created address, so I did
5. Placed order - came up with an error about not being able to create a customer due to a blank field. Realize it was a custom field that was set as required, so went and added a default value in the form's field values
6. Redid step 5, and got this error:

Account Head: Test Buyer created
Not allowed entry in Warehouse: XYZ

XYZ is the label of our default warehouse. XYZ currently has restricted access (as with all our warehouses) by user.  We cannot remove restrictions to XYZ. Is there a possible workaround here?

Thanks.

Account Head: Test Buyer created
Not allowed entry in Warehouse: XYZ

XYZ is the label of our default warehouse. XYZ currently has restricted access (as with all our warehouses) by user.  We cannot remove restrictions to XYZ. Is there a possible workaround here?

Thanks.

Hi Anand,

I might be digressing from the initial post but thought it would be prudent not to make another post for a question concerning the catalog online.

I would like to know if it would be possible to show items on website through a Custom Query Report. Like I have a page for item group but the item listing on the website for items mentioned in the item group is not what I want but I would like to show it in a tabular form which we can easily get through a custom query report or script report would it be possible to show items in a tabular format with custom fields so that we could get the appearance as per our requirement.

I would like the current listing of items to be as per the below format:

Item Group Page (Currently) shows the items with picture place holder and that is also limited to only top 100 items or so and only shows the item code/ item name which is really not what is wanted and is hampering us from moving our website to erpnext currently.

Expected, with tabular format with no limit on the items to be displayed. I think the below mentioned thing can be achieved by a custom script report if that is allowed on website since that might induce some security concerns.

Aditya,

Having more than 100 items in a group defeats the purpose for a listing. Its best to break up into smaller groups.

Regarding the list - this can be made as a custom page (we have not come to those yet!) but if the images are too small then they will defeat the purpose too....

best,
Rushabh

Hi,

1) Love the software and your great efforts!

2) Has the Webshop/Shopping cart feature been added to the non-upgraded accounts yet? If not, is that the plan? No rush, just curious what the plan is.

3) Side note: I have voted on Bitnami for ERPNext, but why don't you list it on www.turnkeylinux.org as well?

Thanks,
fbdystang
